Comments Off on Unlock new opportunities with lifeguard training at NL Active!

Looking to gain a life-changing qualification and boost your career prospects? This summer, NL Active is offering Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) courses — your ticket to becoming a certified lifeguard and much more.

The RLSS NPLQ is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK and internationally. Completing this training opens doors to a range of exciting job opportunities, both locally and around the world.

Why Complete RLSS NPLQ Training?

  • Learn Lifesaving Skills: You’ll be trained in water rescue, CPR, first aid, and dealing with emergencies — vital skills that can save lives both in and out of work.

  • Boost Your Fitness and Confidence: The course challenges your stamina, strength, and communication abilities, leaving you fitter and more confident.

  • Flexible Work Opportunities: Lifeguarding offers flexible hours, perfect for students, part-timers, or anyone looking to supplement their income.

  • Progress Your Career: Many leisure industry careers start with the NPLQ. It’s also a stepping stone to further qualifications like swim teaching and pool management.

NL Active Summer Courses
This summer, NL Active is running NPLQ courses across their centres, giving more people the chance to qualify. Taught by experienced trainers, the courses combine practical training with essential theory, all in a supportive and professional environment.

Course Highlights:

  • Run at various NL Active centres (Axholme North, Baysgarth* and Riddings*)

  • Open to individuals aged 16+

  • Intensive training delivered over a short period of time

  • Includes assessment and certification upon passing

Whether you’re looking for a summer job, a stepping stone into a career in the fitness and leisure industry, or simply want to gain valuable lifesaving skills, the NPLQ course is a fantastic investment in yourself.

Pensioners can power up with free fitness fun

Comments Off on Pensioners can power up with free fitness fun

North Lincolnshire pensioners aged 66 and above are set to boost their health and wellness with the launch of NL Active’s free fitness initiative. This exciting program aims to encourage seniors to get active, boost their energy levels and connect with their community.

Participants can take advantage of free, off-peak access to the gym, swimming, and Les Mills Virtual fitness classes in NL Active facilities across North Lincolnshire.

Cllr Richard Hannigan cabinet member for adults and health, expressed his enthusiasm for the program and said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our senior residents to improve their health and well-being while socialising and staying active.

“We are leading the way in promoting fitness for all, creating opportunities for pensioners to thrive.

“This free program is bringing accessible fitness solutions straight to the heart of North Lincolnshire and I encourage every pensioner across the county to take advantage of this wonderful initiative.”

The Fit for Free offer will be available for eligible individuals to redeem until March 2026.

In addition to the core off-peak offer there will also be additional Fit for Free sessions and taster activities such as racket sports and walking sports timetabled throughout the year.

Existing NL Active members aged 66 plus will also benefit from this offer as payments will be suspended for two months meaning they too can keep fit for free.

Local residents aged 16 years and above with a learning disability can also take advantage of this great opportunity to get Fit for Free in NL Active facilities soon.

For more information, including a timetable of classes and participating NL Active facilities, visit www.northlincs.gov.uk/nl-active/fit-for-free.

Juneau Projects are artists Philip Duckworth and Ben Sadler. They were invited to make a new artwork inspired by the Museum’s natural history collection. The artists focused on the collection of mounted bird specimens. They collaborated with scientists to look at the collection and local bird populations.

Juneau Projects also ran online workshops with people from the local area. The resulting artworks were combined to create a collaborative book and a sculpture for the Museum.
